The Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County is a non-profit, no-kill, adoption center, dedicated to rescuing and placing abandoned and displaced animals into loving, permanent homes. All adoptable animals (healthy or treatable, and non-aggressive) at HSIMC stay at the shelter until they are adopted, or in some special cases, transferred to other no-kill shelters.
While under the shelter's care, animals are socialized and/or trained through volunteer-based programs. This not only helps them better adjust to shelter life, but helps ready them for permanent homes.
No animal of any age is placed in a permanent home without first being spayed or neutered, brought current on vaccines, tested for certain diseases, and other treatments deemed necessary to get them ready for their new homes.
HSIMC is not affiliated with the national chapter of the Humane Society, nor do we receive any funding from that organization. If you can, we encourage you to donate.
Much of the care for the animals is volunteer-based. There are always many tasks needing attention in our kennels, in the cattery, in the office, and in the community. If you are interested in helping our organization with your time, please consider volunteering your services.
The Humane Society is located on 10 beautiful acres along Forsythe Creek in Redwood Valley. Please come visit us and the animals!
